The film scored just under 900M$ at the chinese Box Office! a true phenomenom
The film is non stop action,with spectacular explosions, killings, fights, a touch of romance at the end of course (the lead character, special forces combat retired officer) is so busy saving everyone else and killing hundreds of bad guys that he can t really focus on that before the end of the movie (2 hours or so that play like a 80 minutes film).
As a parallel to many US action movies (ID4 super hero films...) I found funnny to discover these chinese patriotism values, the love of the flag and other socialist morale which prevailed when china saves africa from collapse.
