| | OKLAHOMA MON AMOUR Showing: Saturday, 4/24 at 4:50 pm In the mid-nineties while living in Mexico, activists Leam and Fiona Gaertner had two sons: Nico and Sebastián. Political threats prompted the couple's relocation to Oklahoma, where they had a house in the small town of Ava. There, a tragedy ruptured the family, triggering the film's present-day events. In 2016, Nico, now 24, is living in Mexico. The restlessness that consumes him is justified because his brother -who was left behind in Oklahoma with their bitter father, is on his way to Mexico by road, determined to put all the pieces together. The film portrays a ruptured family, the journey of two brothers needing to find their true identity and to unveil buried secrets, all of this tinted by the puzzling closeness between Mexico and the U.S. Filmed in black and white, with a non-traditional structure, the film interacts with current world tensions, also showing a cosmopolitan Mexico City seldom seen in cinema.
